Tana Zhang

Tana leads Cognito’s business across the Greater China region. She has nearly two decades of experience in strategic communications, corporate branding, alternative investments marketing, and wealth management advisory.

Prior to Cognito, Tana led the APAC advisory team at Edelman Smithfield. She has counselled leading buy- and sell-side institutions on go-to-market strategy, crisis situations, thought leadership, and stakeholder engagement. Her most recent work spans asset management, insurance, private equity, real estate, family office, and digital assets, which supports clients in navigating regional issues and elevating brand reputation.

Before joining the consultancy, Tana worked with leading alternative investment firm PAG, Japanese investment bank Mizuho Securities, and Asia’s largest publicly traded life insurer AIA, supporting and advancing their strategic business goals.

A firm believer in lifelong learning, Tana constantly seeks intellectual growth and opportunities to pay forward. Currently she serves as President of Hong Kong at Stars Foundation, a Swiss non-profit fostering next-generation leadership. She founded HISTAR, a music initiative supporting sight-saving projects. She also actively participates in charity fundraising work through Habitat for Humanity.

Tana speaks fluent English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Japanese. She studied public policy at Harvard Kennedy School, and is working on her MBA at Chicago Booth.
