Lindsey McMurray founded Pollen Street Capital in 2013 after leading the spin out from Royal Bank of Scotland, and she is currently Managing Partner. Pollen Street Capital is an independent alternative investment management company, focused on accelerating the progress of the financial and business services sectors. Since 2013, the company has grown into a team of 70+ professionals with offices in London and New York City, operating across private equity and credit strategies on behalf of investors including leading pension funds, asset managers, banks, and family offices from around the world.
Lindsey McMurray is Chair of the private equity and credit investment committees, and also serves as a non-executive director on the boards of several portfolio companies, including Shawbrook Bank (a leading UK challenger savings and lending bank), Oplo (a specialist consumer lender) and Freedom Finance (a service provider to lenders). Having been a private equity and credit investor for more than 25 years with a focus on the financial and business services sector, her experience includes leading the Principal Finance business for the Royal Bank of Scotland, successfully structuring and executing several credit investments, as well as making significant investment in US and European leveraged loans.
Lindsey McMurray has a First Class Honours degree in Accounting and Finance as well as achieving an MPhil in Finance from Strathclyde University. She started her career as a derivatives trader at Kleinwort Benson, and prior to joining RBS she spent six years as a Partner for Cabot Square Capital, where she focused her work on real estate investment and other asset backed investments, as well as working within the financial services sector. Her experience also includes launching the Special Opportunities Fund at RBS, raising approximately £1bn from external institutional investors, and acquired and grew several specialty finance businesses, such as UK-based lending bank Shawbrook, the non-performing loan purchaser Arrow Global Group, and the Italian bank Banca Sistema.
Outside of work, Lindsey McMurray is a keen runner having successfully completed the Marathon Des Sables twice in 2007 and 2011. She also supports several charities with a particular focus on mentoring children in state schools as a trustee for the Future First charity, supporting climate action initiatives through producing documentary films, as well as supporting the speech and language charity, Auditory Verbal UK, that provided early years therapy to her daughter Grace.
