John Rothstein

John is the Global COO of Optiver Group and Managing Partner of Optiver UK, a leading proprietary trading firm and global market maker.

Since his appointment as Managing Partner of Optiver UK in 2020, John has rapidly developed and scaled the firm's UK foreign exchange and commodities trading business, helping it achieve remarkable growth and at the same time demonstrating its strategic significance for the Group.

John joined Optiver in 2007 as a Derivatives Trader. He was named COO of Optiver US in 2017, overseeing all aspects of business operations within the Chicago office, and became a Partner in 2019. In 2023, John assumed the additional responsibilities of the Global COO position alongside his Managing Partner role. Within this new role, he oversees global operations to optimise efficiency, minimise risks, and achieve organisational goals through cross-functional collaboration.

John holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Master's degree from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
