Benjamin Deng
President of Asia Asset Management
Benjamin Deng is President of Asia Asset Management at Sun Life and a member of the Asia Executive Team.
He is responsible for leading Sun Life's asset management function across Asia, overseeing the company's investment management strategy and operations to deliver high-performing investment strategies for Clients and support the growth of Sun Life’s insurance and asset management businesses in the region.
Prior to Sun Life in January 2025, Benjamin was the Group Chief Investment Officer at Ping An Insurance, where he was responsible for managing group-wide insurance investments with US$740 billion in assets under management. His previous roles include Chief Investment Officer at China Pacific Insurance, Group Head of Investment Solutions and Derivatives at AIA, and Regional Head of Market Risk Management Asia-Pacific (ex-Japan) at AIG.
He was currently Vice Chairman of the Investment Research Committee and the Asset-Liability Management Committee at the Insurance Asset Management Association of China and has lectured in the Financial Engineering Program at the Baruch College of the City University of New York. He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance at City University of Hong Kong.
Benjamin graduated from the City University of New York with an MBA in Finance and an MS in Quantitative Method & Modelling, and the University of International Business & Economics with a Bachelor of Economics in International Business. He is a CFA Charter Holder and Financial Risk Manager.
