Anh Ngoc Tran
Policy Advisory
Anh Tran is a professor at the O’Neill School, specializing in the governance of public and business organizations. His current research focuses on institutions, digital technologies and human intelligence. His articles have appeared in the American Political Science Review, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Law and Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Politics, American Economic Journal: Applied Policy, and other leading academic journals.
Tran has been an economic advisor to several prime ministers of Vietnam. He also serves as chair of Vietnam Initiative at IU, a global network of experts on development policies for Vietnam. He has led two major US government projects in Vietnam to train senior policymakers and innovate the higher education system.
Tran frequently works as a consultant for innovations by governments, corporations, the United Nations and the World Bank, and has lived and worked in Russia, France, and Australia. He has participated in UNDP Academic Fellowship, Asia Foundation's Emerging Leaders Program, and the Vietnamese Prime Minister's Research Council. Tran is co-founder of the International Society of Vietnamese Economists.
In addition, Tran is the founding chair of the Vietnam–U.S. Fall Forum (VUFF), first held in 2024. Conceived as a premier platform for dialogue and partnership, the Forum brings together leading Vietnamese and international enterprises, policymakers, and scholars. By fostering high-level exchanges and long-term networks, VUFF has become an important catalyst for advancing strategic economic cooperation and innovation between Vietnam and the United States.
