Anant Bhalla

Anant Bhalla is Co-Founder and CEO of 1823 Partners, an alternative asset management platform built for long-duration institutional investors, including insurance companies, pension funds, family offices, and sovereign wealth funds, with $18.7 billion in assets under management as of July 2026. He also serves as Senior Partner, Chief Investment Officer, and Global Head of Insurance at JAB Holdings, a $70 billion family office (as of July 2026) focusing on a portfolio of consumer and life insurance businesses. Under his leadership, JAB Insurance has built a global life and retirement platform anchored by the acquisitions of Prosperity Life Group in the U.S., and pending acquisitions of Columbian Mutual Life Insurance Company, and the Life and Pensions business of Utmost Group plc.

Before founding 1823 Partners, Anant served as President and CEO of American Equity Investment Life (NYSE: AEL) from 2020 to 2024, where he led a transformation of the company's investment strategy and distribution platform that delivered a greater than threefold increase in AEL's stock price over his tenure, culminating in its acquisition by Brookfield Reinsurance for $4.3 billion. Earlier in his career, he held CFO, CRO, and Treasurer roles at Brighthouse Financial, MetLife, AIG, Lincoln Financial, and Ameriprise Financial.

Anant holds a B.B.A. from the University of Madras and an M.B.A. from S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research. He is based in Miami and serves as a trustee of Gulliver Preparatory School.
