Mr. Alvin C. Chua is currently the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Noah International. Mr. Chua is also an adjunct professor at Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, a senior advisor to the Center for Financial Stability, a New York-based financial markets think tank, a member of the Expert Committee of the Green Finance 60 Forum, and a member of the Expert Committee of the Lingnan Forum.
Mr. Chua joined the financial industry in 1987 with a Wall Street background and a 35-year career at Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Cantor Fitzgerald. He joined BOCI in 2014.
Prior to joining Noah International, Mr. Chua was a Managing Director and the Global Head of Sales, Trading and Research for Securities and Fixed Income products at BOCI.
Mr. Chua served as an independent non-executive director of Guangfa Bank (Guangzhou) from December 2013 to June 2020. From May 2017 to present, Mr. Chua also serves as an independent non-executive director of Jiujiang Bank (Jiangxi). From March 2021 to present, Mr. Chua also serves as an independent non-executive director of AEON Insurance Asset Management (Shanghai).
Mr. Chua received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a MBA degree in business administration from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He holds both the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certificates.
In addition to serving as an adjunct professor at Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University, Mr. Chua has also served as a visiting professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Institute of Global Economics and Finance) and the National University of Singapore (Centre for Asset Management Research and Investment).
